Another small update

Hi all

So the grey knight is definitely getting there. I was hoping to have him finished now but real life swallowed my weekend whole. Mettalics are mostly done. I might add some more metal on the chest plate. Then battle damage, weathering and make a base.

  1. Wow, this is one of the best looking true-scale marines I have ever seen! With the clever use of the cataphractii armour really helps give the power armour the bulk feel it should have. I also particularly like how much better his weapons look at this scale (the storm bolters look ridiculously large on the stock GKs, but looks reasonable here).

The paint job is also looking great too! I am pleased to see the old colour scheme, rather then the straight polished silver of the current GW Grey Knights.

    Keep up the fantastic work!

    1. Hi Eric. Glad you like the model so far and thanks for the comment :) I'm just looking at basing options at the moment. You can see by the amount of finished models on corks this is something I normally struggle with.

    2. Basing can be a challenging thing. It is an element I always sort of hated, but a good base does a lot for a model. Recently I have grown really fond of Dragon Forge bases. Although it is an extra expense, their quality is really high, both in sculpt and quality (far superior to Secret Weapons Miniatures in my option) and there are a lot of options. They also had a level of uniformity to each model, preventing you from struggling to reproduce a certain base theme from a previous model. I am particularly fond of their tech deck bases (they really give the Space Hulk feel, an aesthetic I really associate with the 41st millennium). My blog, Between the Bolter and Me, has a bunch of examples of the bases if you are interested in seeing the on models. Regardless, good luck!

  4. Fantastic looking true-scale marine. Everything is scaled really nicely, with nothing seeming overbearing (something that can't be said about the standard plastic Grey Knights...). I love all of the small details you added like the skull at his waist and the little Inquisitor =I= on his breastplate. They really tie the model together and set the mood.

    Keep up the great work!
